Ram ki Paidi is a series of ghats on the bank of Saryu river in Ayodhya in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. A large number of pilgrims visit every day to take a sacred bath in holy Saryu waters. The river front brings forth a majestic landscape specially in floodlit night. There were enormous bathing ghats throughout the banks of the holy river Sarayu and the ones at Nayaghat were immersed in the heavy rains and floods. These were rebuilt in 1985. On occasion of Deepawali in 2019 Ayodhya created Guinness world record by lighting 450k Lamp on Ram ki Paidi.
According to the District Magistrate of Ayodhya City, changes will be made to the appearance of Ram ki Paidi to accommodate a larger number of devotees during the Deepotsav festival. Steps will be constructed resembling those found in theaters and stadiums, positioned along the slope of Ram ki Paidi. Additionally, there are plans to expand and develop ghats from Guptar Ghat to the new ghat, along with the construction of roads and parks. A cruise is also planned to run from Ayodhya to Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat, providing tourists with visits to all the sites mentioned in the Ramayana, accompanied by narration of the Ramayana and Ram Katha.
These changes and developments aim not only to enhance the religious and mythological significance of Ayodhya but also to make the city more appealing to a larger number of tourists. This initiative will lead to the growth and improvement of Ram ki Paidi and its surrounding areas, providing better facilities for pilgrims and tourists alike.
